5 Top Teacher Self Care Ideas

Here are my 5 top teacher self care strategies

Let’s face it, teaching can be challenging AND exhausting. That’s why it’s so important to make time for quality teacher self care EVERY week. A little self care goes a long way, helping you reduce stress, sleep better, increase productivity and motivation, boost your immune system, combat fatigue, and promote self-compassion and self-awareness.

Looking for ideas and tools to help you with your self care regime? Look no further! I’ve collected a pile of the best goodies to get you started with making YOU a priority!

Here’s my top notch teacher self care list…I’ve provided links to all goods to make it easier on you and save you time searching high and low for all these self care treats.

#1 Take a Hot Bath

This, by far, is one of the BEST ways to reduce stress and tension after a long work day or week. Just fill up the tub, sit back, and relax. Do yourself a favor and grab a comfy bath pillow to really enjoy the moment (and not have the feeling of cold porcelain digging into your neck and shoulders!). Here’s one of the best bath pillows out there, which is rated 4.5 stars by over 400 people on Amazon: Bathtub Cushion for Neck, Shoulder, and Back Support.

Another option is the GORILLA Grip Original Bath Pillow, which is a little bit cheaper, with a slightly lower rating at 4 stars by over 3,000 people.

Now, if you want to go full force for the ABSOLUTE LUXURY bath pillow, then the Luxury Bath Pillow and Spa Cushion for Full Body Comfort is the right fit for you! This one costs more, but could be well worth the money since it provides comfort for your whole body, not just shoulders and neck. It’s rated 4.5 stars by over 600 people. Take a look at this beauty!

Alright, now that we’ve got your comfort sorted out, let’s take it up a notch and add some calming bath bombs to the mix!

A good start with bath bombs is this set of 9 Organic Bath Bombs by Fleur D’Extase. These little fizzers are vegan and free from toxic chemicals, meaning there are no artificial colors, no parabens, no ethyl alcohol, no phenoxyethanol, no DEA, and they are not tested on animals. This makes for a wonderful, clean option for a calming, relaxing bath. Plus, they are highly rated at 4.5 stars by over 460 people on Amazon.

Another awesome earth-friendly set of bath bombs is this Natural and Organic Set of 6 made by Beauty by Earth. This is a great natural, clean, organic and toxin-free option for your calming and stress-relieving bath.

#2 Listen to Relaxing Music

Whether during your bath or just lounging on the couch for some quality ME time, listening to relaxing music is always such a nice way to unwind after a hectic day. This is why relaxing music is #2 on my teacher self care list. I am personally super attached to my portable speaker and have had it for many years. I love how easy it is to bring it with me into any room, or even outside on my deck while I catch some rays. I just pop on one of my favorite playlists and mellow out.

The portable speaker I have, and highly recommend, is the JBL Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, which is top notch and great value. It’s rated 4.5 stars by almost 7,000 people on Amazon and is quite affordable at about $100. This is the best option for a QUALITY, durable speaker at a reasonable price. And the waterproof feature is such a great added bonus, given that I spend A LOT of time enjoying my hot baths or lounging in the back yard with my toddler.

If you’re looking for a cheaper option, there are some great alternatives. The quality won’t be quite as amazing as the JBL Speaker, but if you’re just trying to keep it simple and are on a budget, you could go for the Anker Soundcore Portable Speaker, which rings in at around $40 or so. This is a nice, affordable option, which is also highly rated at about 4.5 stars by over 4,000 people.

Last, but not least, there is the OontZ Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker, which is a super affordable option (usually around $25-30) and is a best seller on Amazon, rated 4.5 stars by a whopping 37,000 people! There are A LOT of people out there that absolutely love this option, so go for it if you want to keep it simple and cheap.

#3 Aromatherapy

Ranking in at #3 on my Teacher Self Care List is another super calming teacher self care strategy: aromatherapy. There are so many amazing essential oils out there that really help you reduce stress and tension. I personally love this Ultimate Aromatherapy Diffuser & Essential Oil Set since it comes with everything you need to get started on your relaxation journey. It’s rated 4.5 stars by over 1,000 people and the price is definitely right, ringing in at about $35-40.

If you’ve already got some essential oils kicking around, and you’re looking for a diffuser, here’s an epic deal on a highly rated diffuser at a super low price (usually about $15-17). The URPOWER Essential Oil Diffuser is rated 4.5 stars by a whopping 34,000 people! You really can’t go wrong with this one.

#4 Pack Healthy Lunches and Snacks

This Bento Lunch Box and Snack Container Set is such an easy and effective way to prepare healthy, well-balanced lunches and snacks for your busy day. If you’re like me, you’re running around in fast forward all day, preparing lessons up until that first bell rings, answering a million questions from students all day, tidying and organizing, attending last minute meetings, etc. Do yourself a favor and at least pack yourself healthy and balanced foods that will sufficiently fuel your body for the day.

Treat yourself to a fancy thermal lunch kit to house all those yummy snacks for the day. Here are a few of my favorites. These companies have such pretty designs and they produce high quality bags that are made to last.

The MUKALOO Insulated Lunch Bag is rated 5 stars by over 500 people.

The BALORAY Insulated Lunch Bag is rated 4.5 stars by over 2,000 people.

Here’s another one of BALORAY’s Insulated Lunch Bags. They have such cute patterns. If you click the link, you can check out all of their options.

#5 Get a Massage

Alright, let’s face it, not all of us have the time and energy to book massage appointments, haul yourself over to the clinic, lay there for an hour, then fight traffic on your way home. Plus, not all of us have the money to pay for these appointments. If that’s the case, a great alternative is to invest in a massage machine. There are some really good, affordable options out there. The RESTECK Deep Tissue Massager With Heat is rated 5 stars by over 3,100 people and is super affordable at about $60 a pop. This baby is great for hitting “every inch of your body” and is a wonderful portable option that saves you tons of time and money.

The Zyllion Shiatsu Back and Neck Massager is a great option for targeting the back and neck. It’s rated 4.5 stars by over 9,000 people and is a bit cheaper at about $45.

the DEERJUMP Massage Ball Kit is another, cheaper alternative if you prefer to do the massaging yourself, or you simply don’t think you need an electronic machine. This Set of 6 Massage Tools is a simple and cheap option that’s only about $20-25.

    1. Thanks so much for your feedback, Janet! I’m happy to help in any way I can to remind teachers of how important self care is 🙂

  1. These are some of the best self care tips! Wish I could take more relaxing baths … one day! Everything else hit home – how amazing!

    1. Thanks for the comment, Rachel! Yeah, it definitely took me a while to find the time for proper self-care after having my daughter. But being pregnant with baby #2 and always so incredibly busy, my body just NEEDS that rest and relaxation sometimes. So I try really hard to make sure I get my bubble baths each week 🙂
